The Challenge
As the customer began designing their most advanced washing machine, they faced a new generation of engineering and business challenges:
Extreme Environmental Demands:
The HMI (Human-Machine Interface) had to be 100% reliable in the most hostile environment in a home. It needed to withstand constant high-frequency vibration from 1600 RPM spin cycles, high humidity and steam, and direct contact with water, bleach, and chemical detergents.
Unreliable Touch Performance:
Their existing touch panel failed when operated with wet or damp hands, a constant in a laundry room. This created a significant point of frustration for the end-user.
Supply Chain & EOL Risk:
Their incumbent display supplier issued an “End-of-Life” (EOL) notice on a key display driver, threatening to halt production and force a costly re-design and re-certification of a product line with an 8-year manufacturing plan.

Custom HMI Hardware Engineering
We designed a 7.0” IPS TFT Display module with a custom-tooled, IP65-sealed front bezel. The assembly features a proprietary vibration-dampening mounting system that isolates the display from the machine’s chassis, protecting it from vibration and shock.
Application-Specific Touch Tuning
Our engineers developed a custom firmware for the PCAP touch controller specifically for the laundry environment. This tuning provides flawless “wet finger” operation and can even be operated by a user wearing thin gloves (e.g., rubber cleaning gloves).
Optical Bonding & Sealing
The display was optically bonded to a 3mm tempered cover glass. This process eliminates any air gap, making the screen fog-proof in a humid laundry room and dramatically increasing its impact resistance and visual clarity.
Long-Term Supply Chain Management
To solve their primary business risk, we provided a 10-year “Locked Bill of Materials (BOM)” guarantee. This legally binding agreement ensures the supply of the exact display, controller, and components for the entire 10-year planned lifecycle of their product line.
